Post linen backing condition: very good
Pre linen backing condition: poster had
small holes at the crossfolds and areas of paper loss across the
right half of the top and bottom borders. There was a lesser amount
of wear on the other foldlines. There were pinholes, creases,
smudges, tears, and some areas of paper loss around the edges of the
poster. The person who did the restoration of this poster put new
blank white paper over much of the borders to even out the
appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was
not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top
restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are
not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a
significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). |
