HUTCH TRICKSTAR or TRICK STAR from 1984, 1985 and 1986

Monday November 3, 2008. One of the coolest things happened today. Woody Itson called me today to let me know he found some stickers and will be signing them and sending them to us FREE! I was star struck. My Freestyle hero still to this day. WOW! I felt giddy like a school girl?!! Anyway all i can say he is one of the coolest BMX stars I have encountered. I look forward to that day when he pays us a personal visit to our humble abode to see our bike and other collection. Damn Woody. Made my Year!! Even with the poo poo economy. Just little things like this is what make life good!! Money can never buy something like this!

How to differentiate a US production vs JAPAN production?

• FRAME: 1984 and 1985 are US production. Serial number is located at the rear bottom dropout. Numbers only for the serial number. No symbols and related. ---- FORK: 1st production runs had the short Miami Hooper friendly pegs, no brake cable holder present

• 1986 and onwards were Made in Japan "Rising Sun". Both exhibit great weld quality

As of today August 19, 2007 Sunday the completion of our BITD Mix Match HUTCH TRICK STAR. It's been shopped over with old, mid and new school parts. Old school looks with mid/new technology refinements. My business partner did a superb job on the restore and parts pick. It came out better then i envisioned. I was kept out of the dark on this project. Good surprise. Spent nearly $1,000 on this puppy. Worth the money. This will be our primary practice flatland freestyler. Other names "Revamped BITD mix matc", "Saved from the Grave" or "HUTCH TRICKSTAR REDUX"

• FRAME: US Trickstar frame have been bathed in Oxalic acid, cleaned gently with wire brush and finished off with manual light hand wet sand. It was then custom painted [GUNMETAL METALLIC BLACK] Strategically placed old, mid and new school decals all over!!
• FORK: US Trickstar with original paint from BITD and repop fork decals from Lee Berube [PINK], skateboard grip tape added to stubby Miami Hopper friendly pegs
• IDEA scrapped as we couldn't wait :-) In the works for the bottom frame tube: Custom silver or gold leaf lettering. Maybe a custom stencil will be made 80sKID.com TRICK STAR in HUTCH font AKA Rodeo 57 font. Sample here

• FRONT BRAKE: Revenge [from the makers of S&M] 990 with dual ball bearings per pivot arm U-brake with Odyssey 2x4 brake pads. Very high quality Made in the USA brake. Pricey MSRP $75.00 but worth every penny!
• Diatech Flexie used coincide the Shadow Conspiracy Linear brake line. This will help greatly with those massive U turn bends from the front brake cable routing inside your fork.
• REAR BRAKE: St Martin ball bearing 990 U brake with Odyssey 2x4 brake pads
• U Brake plates: Tektro with removable U brake pivots which are compatible with some Odyssey forks
• BRAKE CABLES: Shadow Conspiracy LINEAR [PINK], even better then the Odyssey Linear cables! Brake cable itself is teflon coated inside another layer of teflon coated linear strand brake housing. MSRP $10-$11 each
• REAR LOWER GYRO CABLE UPGRADE: London Mod: dual Shadow Conspiracy cables, more efficient even pull IMO [BLACK]

We bought several! Thanks to Jeff Masse. We've added a repop SST Woody Itson Freestyle hub sticker to the rear post. We worked from a scan from our NOS SST Woody hub decal and then emailed the image to Woody Itson whom had the work done by Lee Berube!
• RIMS/WHEELS/SPOKES: Sun Black label 48 hole double wall aluminum rims. Hand polished mirror finish. Chrome like without the upkeep and pitting of chrome :-) USA 14g spokes used on the front and rear. Cross lace pattern. Thanks to www.FlatLandFuel.com for the wheel builds. Gonna send ALL of our wheels to them from now on. Cheap $15 labor + shipping both ways. Quality labor and service!!
• FRONT HUB: DK 3/8" sealed, Made in Italy bearings, butter smooth. 26tpi [SILVER]
• REAR HUB: Suntour 48 hole coaster HUB with ACS Freecoaster conversion. We can ride with coaster brake or freewheel with the turn of 2 knobs. Heavy set-up but this is how we rode BITD! Homage to Woody Itson :-) [CHROME]
• TIRES: PRIMO Dirt Monster skinwall 20 x 1.75, 60 PSI. We choose these as we side on dirt, flatland and street. This catered to all our uses.
• CHAINWHEEL SPROCKET: Odyssey Richard Gear Lite 44T silver. SPECS: 1/4" [6.5mm] thick 6061. Made in the USA. [SILVER]

1986 HUTCH "Almost got my a** into a divorce" TRICK STAR

FYI all original bike, 1 owner, was ridden by the original owner for 1 month only in 1987. From the receipts we think he meant 1988 or 1989. Was built to replicate the bike Woody rode for HUTCH. We have no plans to repaint anything, great survivor so we are leaving it AS-IS. Has been stored in the downstairs basement under the tarp for the past 20 years. We paid a freaking 2 arms, both legs and a heart for this bastard. This is for the HUTCH purist.

Beautiful survivor bike. Not show dead uber anal MINT condition quality. Am content with the condition.
UPDATED PICS after Uber cleaning esp the black marks on the wheels. Thank you Mr Clean Magic Eraser sponges! Plus HUTCH Aerospeed cranks added :-) Got 2 strip bolts on the left side pedal. These are still TEMP pics until we finish restoring our chrome D.I.D chain and fix this dog gone pedal. Out with the 1/2" pedal spindle and in with the 9/16 :-) Also needed is a chrome Bedlam Bikes SST Command seatpost replica in CHROME!!

We have NO plans to rechrome these rarities! We prefer a used survivor item over restored/rechromes etc :-) Imperfections/use adds character IMO. These here item is a Love them or Hate them thing due to the high collectible pricing and so called fragile nature. We have asked Mr. Itson on these and he stated "He never broke any." Good enough for me. We bought these to collect and ride OS Flatland 1980s style :-) Not worried about them breaking!! Finally found a way to fabricate those plastic end caps. We used some automotive panel/trim retainers/clips!!
