Diamond Back Cool Streak or DiamondBack CoolStreak from 1985 1986 1987
We got this for FREE from our childhood friend John G. back when we had our 1st bike: BMX Scorpion and 2nd: HUTCH TrickStar baby blue frame. We only have the frame, fork, handlebars, seat post clamp and cranks with pedals. Top tube was crushed by our Skyway frame stander :-( Restoration and pics pending. All others parts have been either lost, stolen or discarded :-( Building up into another rider bike.
NEVER FOR SALE for sentiment reasons!
Original parts of what was left/found:
FRAME: serial number E6047204
FORK: was bored out to 10mm to accommodate the ACS BOA brake
CHAINRING: Tuff Neck
CHAINWHEEL & BOLTS: Tioga Spyder
CRANKS: Sugino 1 piece
PEDALS: SR 1/2" aluminum, Made in Japan
frame and fork factory decals have been taken off via the heat gun method. Some was saved and rest was discarded :-( REPOPS NEEDED

Frame serial number M87055870 [BLUE]
Info from a fellow DB collector. Somewhere along 1987 DB started to use Hot Streak forks [built-in pegs]
Purchased from the original 1st owner in AZ, only needs some light TLC
We did not find any dents, dings, cracks or rewelds
CHROMOLY and HI-TEN steel construction
BIKE CONDITION: 100% original survivor bike with minor flaws: some very light surface rust where the paint chipped, black spots tar maybe? under the bottom bracket and bottom tube. Paint scrapes are present when you flip the bike over.
We bought this as a wall hanger. IMO We always think these low end line of bikes are under rated.
Made in TAIWAN.
Flatland, Vert, Ramp and Street.
Looks like ALL the original frame and fork decals are accounted for. Someone needs to heat gun these off and make some high quality UV coated reproductions.
GRIPS: generic A'ME looking [BLACK/WHITE]
HANDLEBARS: Diamond Back "Mike Dominguez" with the cable guides but missing the Mike Dominguez decal on the handlebar
BRAKE LEVER: Dia Compe MX [WHITE]
STEM: Diamond Back with Potts mod. You can run your front cable through the stem, fork [WHITE]
HEADSET: ? brand
FRONT & REAR BRAKES: Dia Compe 890 front and rear side caliper. Made in JAPAN.
BRAKE CABLES: ? Dia Compe? brand
CABLE HOLDERS: Dia Compe [CHROME], some surface rust and pitting present. Light sanding with the Dremel maybe?
BRAKE PADS: Dia Compe [WHITE]
SEAT: Diamond Back [WHITE], some light yellowing
SEATPOST: Diamond Back straight [CHROME]
SEATPOST CLAMP: Diamond Back [WHITE]
RIMS/WHEELS/HUBS: KK E-87 36 spoke steel rims with a SHIMANO SF MX30 freewheel which is Made in JAPAN [CHROME], both wheels spin smooth and true. Looks to be loose bearing hubs. Some very very very light surface rust present on the inner rims and very so lightly on the side. No pitting but some tiny infinitesimal scratches. NO Deep scratches or gouges on the rims. I would hand polish these rims and remove all known surface rust.
UNCOMMON to find with the original chainwheel cover with colorful DB graphics
Also will include the rim wheel reflectors, 1 has a broken tab and rear brake location deflector
CHAINWHEEL: LUN-CHI 44T [CHROME/WHITE]
CRANKS: 1 piece, American bottom bracket, unsealed ball bearings
PEDALS: WELLGO or Victor VP-767, plastic with unsealed ball bearings [WHITE]
CHAIN: KMC [BLACK/CHROME]
TIRES: CHENG SHIN TYRE 20 x 1.75, 35PSI max. [WHITE] [DRY ROT present so change to both tires are needed]
BIKE TUBES: ? brand
Peregrine Swivel axel nuts. 26TPI. Washers not needed on the rear as the swivel nuts are in 2 pieces. We added washers also to the front. Save your drop outs.
Past owner spent $50 to have the whole bike overhauled ie brakes tuned and re-greased.
My humble recommendations: more TLC clean-up overall. Tear it down and maybe an oxalic bath. Find a Mike Dominguez decal for the handlebar. Odyssey Linear Slic cables if you plan to rider or for era correctness Dia Compe cables, ACS rotor, laidback seat post and era correct WHITE tires. I've heard of collectors of using Oxy Clean to restore and whiten the brake cable housing and seat this way. Built it the way you wanted it!!! We will leave this to the new owner.
TIDBIT: BITD we ran a DiamondBack CoolStreak fork with our HUTCH Trickstar. That did not hinder our flatland and street progression whatsoever.
